Developments

This image changes the style of my series quite dramatically because its composed in a newsagents shop in Swinton. But I felt it followed with the idea of creating narrative really well, this unusual scene will never be explained. The viewer will have to create their own narrative to explain this out of place scene.

In residential areas you get much more personal items left abandoned in strange areas like these two sofas that are sitting in someones garden.

I like this photographs because of its simplicity. This makes the viewer start to imagine the event of the car braking down, and potentially whats wrong with it. Also this broken down car could reflect on the area, suggesting its quite run down.

This image takes a while for its potential narrative to become apparent. First of all you see a sad dog peeking round the corner, then if the viewer looked closely they would notice the letter box has written on it 'Please use the postbox- thankyou' the postbox is to the left of the peeking dog. I believe his sad expression can be explained from his favourite past time of ripping up the post being put a stop to.

I think these tyre marks work really well to keep the idea of something within the image that is out of place but is subtle, which has kind of been lost within the other photographs as I have focused to strongly on the object itself. Again this makes the viewer think about the past for when this could've happened. There are quite a lot of tyre marks found within the area which could reflect high anti-social behaviour, due to the tyre marks suggesting dangerous driving.

Some of these photographs work well in showing the viewer objects and scenes where something is out of place and results in the viewer being able to create their own narrative to go alongside the photograph. Whereas others don't really provide the viewer with enough visual stimulus to allow them to create their own narrative. My images are now delving deeper into the past and narrative theme, but focusing on scenes/ objects that look out of place in everyday life. After deciding to stay with the theme of residential I feel like my images fit much better in a series together, also it gives the viewer insight into the uncommon sights within the everyday that can have a narrative attached to them. I feel the tyre marks are something that my project could end up focusing on for the final pieces, because there are quite a lot within the area which gives me multiple photograph opportunities. Furthermore these marks could suggest high levels of dangerous driving in Swinton, and when my final pieces are viewed it could impact the viewer making them think about improving their own driving. This could give my final pieces a positive impact on the wider population, but while achieving this through a visual stimulus.
